Be ready for some digging and maybe some post-core drilling. We handle it, but it’s stuff a homeowner should know before they get that quote.

One business on Penn Ave had us install Ameristar ten years back. Gate still swings clean, still black as a boot. Minimal rust, and any scratches from lawn mowers just need some touch-up paint. Now that’s sayin’ somethin’ for commercial fence long-term upkeep.

Residential Installations Still Need High Security Sometimes

You’d be surprised how many homeowners now want security features even if they’re just out in suburban additions. Had a fellow in West Nichols Hills ask for fencing that wouldn’t let people climb, but also looked good next to his garden. We went with a Montage Majestic style — no spear points, so no one gets poked, but tall with flat rails up top that still say “private property.”

Now if you’re talkin’ commercial use — places like warehouses off I-240 or schoolyards in Norman — Ameristar really earns its keep. The Industrial lines like Aegis II can run 8 to 10 feet tall, add in anti-climb rails, and basically keep out anybody who shouldn’t be pokin’ around.

What About Repairs? Not Much, But Here’s What to Watch

Alright — no fence is invincible. You back your mower into one, or a tree falls, you might bend a panel. Good thing is, we don’t gotta tear out a whole run. Ameristar’s panel bracket system means we can pop out a busted section without diggin’ up all the posts. Saves you time and a whole lotta mess.

Got a neighbor in Choctaw — big windstorm last spring, she had one panel twisted. Called us up, we had it swapped with an exact-match section same week. Try doin’ that with some of them generic off-the-shelf fences from big box stores. Ain’t happenin’.

Gates Are Where Cheap Installers Mess Up

I hate sayin’ this, but I’ve seen a lotta nice fences with embarrassin’ gates on ’em. Ameristar gates gotta be built square with proper hinges — if not, they sag or drag, and it looks like junk. We use adjustable hinge kits for slope. Put concrete footers at gate posts. Use the company’s latch systems, not some third-party junk from the hardware store. It all matters.

And if you’re doin’ an automatic gate across a driveway, make sure your installer actually knows ‘lectric. We do wiring and low-voltage tie-ins. No guessin’.

Weather’s a Big Deal for Fence Building in Oklahoma

One thing about Ameristar: it tolerates Oklahoma’s whacky weather better than most fences. We got soil shifts from dry summers, tornados in May, ice in January. Steel handles that flex better than brittle vinyl or warped lumber. That said, post-depth and footing width gotta be done right or that whole thing heaves after the first winter freeze/thaw.

Worst Ameristar job I had to redo was one we didn’t install — some outta-state crew cut corners out in Yukon. They only set posts 18 inches. One good storm and half of ’em were leanin’. We reset everything 36 inches deep, and used the right mix design on the concrete. Ain’t moved since.
