Oklahoma storms — worst enemy of good fences

I got a call after that big hailstorm last spring in Norman. Lady had a vinyl fence that looked like it’d been in a bar fight. Hail cracked whole sections, and high winds took the panels into the neighbor’s trampoline like sails. Replacement was the only option there, and we went with a wind-rated metal fence this time around.

Wind is the big killer out here. If you’re upright on a hill or have big open land around, it’s ten times harder on a fence. Gates blow open, panels get loosened, posts start shifting in that soft red clay after heavy rains. If your fence moves during windstorms, it ain’t gonna last long.
